Rolex 16760 GMT II Fat Lady
Rolex 16760 “Fat Lady” GMT-Master II. This was a transitional model that was only produced for about 5 years. The story goes that in order to house the new 3085 movement (which was the first to featured an independently adjustable 24 hour hand), a unique thicker case was required, hence the nickname “Fat Lady”. Reference 16760 also had thicker crown guards and debuted the black & red “coke” bezel. This particular piece still sports its original tritium dial, hands, date wheel, and bezel insert. Serial number 9.4 million dates to approximately 1986.
